Argiope bruennichi
Cartoonified this little guy http://www.wallwork.me.uk/garden/Argiope_bruennichi_large.jpg I've never seen one of this particular species, but the Argiope aurantia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Aranea_hanging.JPG hang around my gardens a lot. Very cool genus of spiders, laid back, too. Probably one of my favorites.
